Heads Up For Charity! Bracelets That Benefit Charities

By  |  0 Comments

What calls for warm weather and compliments a sun-kissed tan better than an arm party of bright colors and playful embellishment? Just ask twenty year old Ariella Sharf, founder of the business Heads Up For Charity.

Heads Up For Charity began with a single penny, which was then made into a bracelet. This bracelet has since then helped multiple causes, including the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Andrew McDonough Be Positive Foundation, Sunrise Day Camp, Tracey Rubinoff Foundation, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, To Write Love On Her Arms, and the Liv Wise Fund. Once you choose your favorite bracelet, you can pick one of the foundations to support, where a portion of the proceeds will be donated. As stated on their website,www.headsup4charity.com, their mission is to “Raise people’s “Heads Up” to what is going on in the world and encourage them to give back in a fashionable way. It is simply fashion for a cause.”

Just as inspirational as the business itself, is the story of its founder, Ariella. Upon finishing high school, Ariella began studying business at Northeastern University. However, after attending the program for a year and a half, she chose to leave school, feeling as though everything around her was spinning out of control. As part of an article in the BuffaloNews, she described this situation as, “I experienced a crisis. My relationship ended, my major at school was not pleasing me, and I had never felt so alone in my life. I questioned life so often that I thought about ending mine a few too many times.” Fortunately, while at home, she was was able to take the time to find herself. All it took was a penny, a string, and a name. Sharf later stated, “While I am changing my life, I also am changing the lives of those around me”

Since the original “penny-stringed bracelet,” the collection has grown tremendously. Their products now include an assortment of bracelets, super-cool cheetah printed pom pom hats, laid-back tees, and comfy sweats. So what are you waiting for? Stop waiting for the world to change, and make it happen! I mean, what’s cooler than making a difference while staying on trend!?
